The Nail

Understanding the nail composition, structure, diseases and disorders that affect the nail in order to perform the necessary procedures safely.

Classroom Theory Includes:

  • Manicure

  • Develop dexterity and skills

  • Oil manicure

  • Water manicure

  • Vitamin dip to promote strength and health

  • Hand and arm massage

  • Reflexology and MLD movements

  • Paraffin therapy

  • Spa Manicure

  • Natural Nail Cultivation through various treatments and methods

  • Recognizing skin and nail diseases and disorders

  • Pedicure

  • Develop dexterity and skills

  • Foot grooming procedures

  • Foot and leg massage

  • Reflexology and MLD Movements

  • Paraffin therapy

  • Spa Pedicure

  • Recognizing skin and nail diseases and disorders of the Skin

  • Recognizing the diseases and disorders of the skin that may affect the hands and feet.

  • Conditions that the Nail Tech may or may not perform services over.  

  • Protocol to refer to physicians.

  • Manicure/Aesthetics

  • Job Readiness

  • Hygiene, grooming and visual poise

  • Personality development and professional ethics

  • Record keeping

  • Salon planning and client development

  • Resumes and interviews

  • First Aid in the salon

  • Tip Extension application

  • Removal of Artificial Nail Coatings correctly and safely:

  • Procedures for removal of Acrylic, gel, silk and fiberglass, and treatments to promote the health of the natural nail after removal.

  • Safety

  • Forms

  • Bacteriology, sanitation/disinfection procedures.

  • Safety in the salon to protect the Nail Tech and the general public.

  • Learn importance of correct sanitation/disinfection procedures and application to protect you and your client from bacteria, fungus and viruses

At Aesthetics Northwest Institute, we offer a variety of courses and programs to fit your goals.

Day Class Hours Full Time:

Tuesday through Friday 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Saturday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Approximately 4 months


Evening Hours Part Time:

Tuesday through Friday 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM 

Saturday 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Approximately 8 months
